Welcome to the website for Matt England a Junior Kart Racer
Matt England races in Formula Junior TKM, a Motor Sports Association regulated Karting Formula that started a new trend in British karting when it was introduced. This Formula has endured the test of time and in 2009 it celebrated its 20th Year as the UK’s most popular and respected karting class which has produced many F1 standard drivers.
The England family do not have a background in motor racing, although previous generations have an engineering background and an affinity for 'all things mechanical' and a real interst in cars. It was therefore of little surprise that a young Matt England took to a small ride on car before he could walk and proceeded to charge around the house as fast as his feet would take him. The change in surface from carpet to kitchen tiles provided the first lesson in grip characteritics as a dining table gave rise to the need for a sharp left hander that required a fair amount of opposite lock to correct the skid. The need to upgrade to a better model of ride on car necessitated a trip to a well know toy store where such a model was found. The young Matt England insisted on a test drive and promptly disappeared off down the store aisles at a pace, certainly faster than Mum or Dad could keep up with and provided customers and staff with much amusement as he raced up and down the aisles.
Then came the arrival of Matt's first 'powered flight' in the form of a battery operated Jeep. The smile on his face in the photo protrays his enjoyment at the arrival of his first set of wheels. The dark tinted shades were clearly a foundation for what has emerged in recent years for a penchant for a stig like dark visor which has been evident throughout the
2009 season.
